About the curator
Juan T. Garcia is a curator and educator working at the intersection of the health humanities and contemporary art. He holds a BS in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and is a candidate for an MFA in Curatorial Practice at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA); he also studies at Johns Hopkins University as a visiting student. Pharmaco/Liberation is presented as a culmination of Garcia’s inquiry into curation as tactical biopolitics, and as a potent means of intervening in the contemporary governance of life.
